Sadness

Sadness

Sadness

The grief of losing someone close to us can be overwhelming. Especially when they were still young and we couldn’t say goodbye. I’ve learnt with time that it’s fundamental to go through the pain and sorrow and keep the memories close to my heart. And I still miss him after 10 years…

(for François Conway)

My dear friend,

life heard you:

you aren’t growing old

and I couldn’t say goodbye,

I won’t.

I’m keeping in my heart:

a warm night in Toledo,

a drive to Aosta,

U2 in London,

King Arthur’s castle.

Memories

of the light in your eyes,

watching

your daughters grow up.

I recall

some of the best pasta,

long conversations,

meditations,

your courage facing depression,

your fear facing a broken heart

plans to teach me to scuba,

your Yogi posture.

I’m leaning into my sadness

and thank you

for your tender friendship,

your incredible capacity to listen,

introducing me to Tolle.

I won’t say goodbye,

you are just in the room next door

see you there at the end of my road.

A tout suite!

Namaste
